Ali Moult, Rugby Triathlon Club member and Broughton Astley resident, has secured a place on the GB Duathlon Team thanks to a great performance at the Dambuster Duathlon, Rutland Water, Leicestershire on March 8th.

Ali came third in her age group (25-29 years) at this standard distance qualifying race (10k run, 42k bike, 5k run) which now means that she can travel and compete in the European Duathlon Championships in Geneva, Switzerland, next year. She posted a time of 2:23:13.

Fellow club member Rob Jacks also took part in the race (45-49 age group) and completed the race in 2:25:22.

Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice Donation

Written by Press Officer on Sunday, 30 March 2014 16:01.

Recently, members of Rugby Triathlon Club gathered to present a cheque for £500 to Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.

The money raised at various club social events will be used by this local charity to support its ongoing activities. Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice launched the Open Doors Appeal in June last year. The aim of the appeal is to significantly increase income to enable them to open their doors more often to more families. The charity needs to raise £1.3m every year to enable them to open around the clock every day.

Ali Postlethwaite, Club Chairman in 2013 said: “We are very pleased with our fundraising and to be able to donate £500 was a great achievement.”

Jane McGaffney, Community Fundraiser at Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice added: “At the moment we are only open 3/4 days a week. We specialise in palliative, respite and end of life care to children aged 0 to 5 years, who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. We can’t thank the Rugby Triathlon Club enough for their fantastic support. We rely heavily on the local community to help us meet our charitable objectives”.

Each year Rugby Triathlon Club chooses charities to support. In 2014, the charities are The Hoskyn Centre for the Disabled in Bilton Road, Rugby and JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation).

1st Place for Moult at Wellingborough Round 2

Written by Press Officer on Wednesday, 05 February 2014 20:23.

Just two weeks after coming third in the Wellingborough Dirt Run, Ali Moult triumphed in very difficult conditions on February 2nd.

Ali put in an excellent time of 1:01:53 to win the 15k race (only slightly slower than the first series race) which was amazing given the wet and muddy conditions of the course. Richard Thompson was the 11th vet home in a time of 1:07:15 again only marginally slower than in round one.
