Rugby Triathlon Club is a friendly, vibrant and competitive club with over 140 members.
Development of the club has been steady and the club has a thriving and successful junior section with a growing number of local children (8 to 16 years) enjoying the challenges of the sport, the friendships and the competition.
Friendly encouragement and advice is available to all at whatever level, be it entry or elite.
When combined with the club's evolving approach to coaching it is proving to be a winning combination with a healthy number of members representing Great Britain.
The Club is an affiliated member of the British Triathlon Federation and has achieved that association's TRIMARK Bronze accreditation.
Rugby Triathlon Club was started by 6 individuals in 2003.
Garry Haynes, Ian Ellis, Peter Wright, Russell Kelf, Simon Brand and Keith Hirons each put £25 each into the club coffers to start the club.
In its first year the club had 28 members and has grown every year since.
The club organised its first triathlon in 2004 using the facilities at Bilton Grange school.
Over time this event moved out of Rugby and into Daventry where it still is today, using the facilities at the Daventry Sports Centre.
If you are tempted to try the sport or join the club, we'd love to hear from you! We cater for all abilities and all distances. We are on Facebook and you can contact us or email any of our committee directly if you have questions.
If you'd prefer to come and talk to us pop along to our main training session - Tuesdays 7pm-8pm at Rugby School Sports Centre, Horton Crescent, Rugby.
If you register and request trial membership you can even join in the swim training!
Potential junior members are welcome to a taster session at the same venue on Sundays between 2pm and 4pm.
Each year club members choose a charity to support with funds raised from several social activities. In 2024, the Club will be supporting the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Service.
Every day of the year the WN Air Ambulance Service helps to save lives. With the charity’s critical care paramedics, doctors, and pilots attending on average 10 missions per day. No government funding is provided so the service relies entirely on donations to raise the £2,300 needed for each mission so that it can continue to be on the ground delivering lifesaving care within minutes.
Please help our Club raise as much as possible at our social events this year or make an ad hoc donation at https://theairambulanceservice.org.uk/
