Weekend round up 6/7th July

Lots of the club were racing long this weekend with many participants racing at Long Course Weekend and Outlaw Half Holkham.

18 Club members made the long trip west to Tenby to take part in the 3-day extravaganza that is Long Course Weekend. Club members raced various distances across all 3 distances with 7 members completing the Full Long Course Weekend; 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile ride and a marathon for good measure! There were a host of personal records and accomplishments achieved with a notable achievement of Nicola Smith finishing 3rd female in the Wales Swim on the Friday night.

Deciding to head east rather than west Christine Broughan and Damon Street lined up at the Outlaw Half Holkham at Wells-on-Sea. Christine was using the event as a building block towards larger goals later in the summer. Christine had a good race having a solid bike despite being under orders to take it easy. Unfortunately, Damon suffered in a notoriously smelly swim and this set in motion a tough day out leading to a DNF for Damon but he stopped before causing longer term injury, hopefully!

Deciding to ditch the wetsuit and take on the Pitsford Duathlon was a good idea for Ali Moult as she was 1st female and 2nd overall. Running around Pitsford reservoir and cycling around the lumpy Northamptonshire roads Ali cruised in to pick up her trophy.

Getting the weekend started early Judith Harper ran the 12km Stowe Summer Series Trail run through Stowe Gardens. The scenery was great and an off-road run on a Friday night can never be a bad thing!
